James McV Sailor
Life is a journey, NOT a destination.....
In 2006, after a twenty-year career in marina and resort management, I took to the seas in my 47-foot sloop Location. Although I intended to live out my lifelong dream of sailing around the world, I never left the Sea of Cortez. I sailed the coast of Baja and the Mexican Riviera for more than three years, usually single-handed on my boat, visiting the many isolated islands and anchorages, and the diverse port cities of western Mexico before returning to California in 2010 with a comprehensive journal and photo portfolio, and a head full of stories.
These days I’m anchored in Northern California, where I am the Director of Parks & Recreation, and Chief Operating Officer for several lakes campgrounds and marina resorts. Working sixty hour weeks does not lend itself to writing, but I am still occassionally working on completing two books inspired by my years of sailing and life on the Sea, and Mexico.
Writings and reflections on my nautical experiences, as well as works featuring less derring-do, have appeared in Eclectica Magazine, Georgetown News-Graphic, Latitude 38, The Log, and Sea Magazine.
You will find excerpts from my books and stories, and some of my other thoughts and writing here on HubPages.
I hope you find something of value in my words. Your opinions and comments are always welcome and appreciated.
